We ordered a custom batch of 22 of these solid ash lounge chairs in the smoked oak finish for a boutique hotel lobby and bar area refit up here in Ontario. When you are designing for Canadian winters, you need spaces to feel incredibly warm and inviting, but for a high-traffic commercial zone, you also can’t sacrifice on structural durability. These chairs absolutely nailed both.
The smoked oak finish is spectacular in person—it has this rich, deep depth to the wood grain that doesn’t look washed out under our overhead tracking lights. The upholstered seat cushion has just the right amount of density too. In hospitality, you don’t want a seat that’s too soft where guests sink in and struggle to get up with a drink in their hand, but it still needs to be comfortable enough for someone to sit and answer emails for an hour. The fabric seems quite rugged and looks like it’ll hold up great against spills and heavy commercial use.
On the trade side, shipping across the border took a tiny bit longer with customs hold-ups, which was a bit of a headache for our tight scheduling, but the way they crated them up was top-tier. Not a single scratch or ding on the timber frames. They are also well-balanced—no uneven legs or annoying wobbles on our polished concrete floors, which saves my installation crew a ton of time.
Overall, it’s a stellar piece of commercial furniture that looks way more high-end than the price tag suggests. Will definitely keep this supplier on speed dial for our next restaurant project out east. 🍁
